An Introduction

An Introduction:

I’ve been waiting a really long time to start something like this. I’ve tossed around ideas about what to call it, and I’ve been terribly afraid of starting it to begin with. Because the more I think about it - the more I shake the coins from the couch cushions in an attempt to really figure out what’s inside - the more I believe that I genuinely have something to say. And I want to yell about it.

At the end of the day though, I know I need direction - direction in my life; direction for my writing; direction for the words I can’t seem to shake sometimes at two or three in the morning as they dance around me like ghosts I can’t seem to run away from...

So here it is. This is The Poet and The Platform. And this is my journey. I am a writer. I am a lifter. I am a student. I am a teacher.

But most importantly though, and I think this is something that needs to be addressed immediately and honestly, I need to say this: I am lost and I am broken - just like everyone else. I think that’s the first step any writer, any real writer anyway, needs to take when he or she decides to wield the pen with honor and virtue and honesty - in an attempt to tell a story that, maybe, one day will matter to someone somewhere.

I’m going to make an attempt to post on lifting days and on writing days; on days that I can either pull it or push it or write it... or on days that I’m supposed to but... well... can’t...

... and for those of you who are familiar with this... whether you’re the runner or the writer or the strongman or the singer or the powerlifter or the poet... you understand that,  sometimes, those “can’t” days occur far more often than those “can” days.

And here we are.

Some days I will discuss music and mayhem. Some days I will address training and triumph. Other days I’ll talk about art or athletics, and sometimes I’ll make some comments (or most likely ask some questions) regarding who it is we are anyway and why it is we do what we do.

So tie yourself in and welcome.

All My Best,

The Poet and The Platform.
